The brief
Size were asked to develop a brand
for a Chinese wine to be applied to
two different ranges - a premium range made from grapes grown in the Treaty Port vineyards in Shandong Province and a range of specially chosen imported wines.
Historically, the Treaty Ports opened trade routes in the late
19th century between the East
and West. This period then formed the basis for the typographic and overall visual treatment, creating
an ‘instant heritage’ by using actual images of East and West relations during this time.
A distinctive and unique wine
brand which appears established due to the historical reference points used in its visuals. The wine has been very well received and the range is now being further extended with a Rosé.
The solution
The result
Although thin on the ground, extensive research uncovered historical imagery
which was chosen to match the qualities
of the wine.
The imported range drew on the tickets
and labelling of the period, particularly customs tags and labels.
